This is a 'live' recording of a concert at the Philarmonic Hall of New York. In reality, according to some Piazzolla biographers, even though the New York concert actually took place (on May 26, 1965 to be precise), this record was made later in a studio in Buenos Aires to 'chronicle' the concert. I tend to agree, the tracks sound like studio recordings and there is no applause or crowd noise in the entire record. The record is noteworthy as the only source of the "Diablo" series.
This record, incredibly, has been 'retired' from the catalog of Polygram-Argentina and was recently re-issued in Buenos Aires as Installment #70 of the encyclopedia "Sentir el Tango" (low budget CDs without any liner notes or details).
