Reunión de octubre del 2000

Tal como lo había prometido en noviembre de 1999, Horacio Ferrer aceptó ser nuevamente el invitado de honor del CAP, esta vez para compartir la historia de la operita "María de Buenos Aires". Aquella obra que no solo significó el comienzo de la tan fructífera relación artística entre Piazzolla y Ferrer sino que muchos la consideran como uno de los pilares fundamentales de la obra de Astor Piazzolla como compositor.

Horacio Ferrer habló de distintos momentos de la historia de la opertita, comenzando por el momento en que Astor lee el "Romancero Canyengue", primer libro de poesias de Ferrer y le dice: "Horacio, lo que yo hago en la música es igual a lo que vos haces en la poesía, asi que desde ahora tenemos que trabajar juntos". Continuó con el relato sobre el modo en que se fue gestando la obra, desde los textos (que fueron terminados antes de la música) hasta la finalización de la obra completa.

Luego vinieron las anecdotas de aquella primera presentación en la Sala Planeta el 8 de Mayo de 1968 y de las presentaciones posteriores (más de cien). Finalmente, concluyó hablando del momento actual de la obra y su reconocimiento en todo el mundo.

Para el cierre musical el invitado fue Jose Angel Trelles quien interpretó tres temas del repertorio Piazzolla-Ferrer: "El Bocha", "El Gordo Triste" y "Mi Loco Bandoneon".

October 2000 Meeting

Just as he promised on November of 1999, Horacio Ferrer once again acepted CAP's invitation to be our guest of honor, this time to share with all of us the story of "María de Buenos Aires". This work not only was the begining of the so fruitful artistic relationship between Piazzolla and Ferrer but it´s also considered one of the most important landmarks in the work of Astor Piazzolla as a composer.

Horacio spoke about different moments in the history of the little opera, starting from the moment Astor reads "Romancero Canyengue", Ferrer´s first book of poems and he tells him: "Horacio, you are doing in your poetry what I´m doing in my music. From now on, we must work together". He the continued speaking about the way this work came to life, starting from the texts -which where finished before the music- until the moment when the complete work was ready.

Then he spoke about that first performance at the Sala Planeta on May 8, 1968 and the rest of the performances -more than 100-. Finally, he ended speaking about the actual moement of this work and it's renowness in all of the world.

For the musical section the guest was Jose Angel Trelles, who performed 3 songs from the Piazzolla-Ferrer repertoire: "El Bocha", "El Gordo Triste" y "Mi Loco Bandoneon".
